OTHER RECOMMENDED BOOKS:

Bear in mind most recipe books are easy to adapt to Fit Body Fix guidelines, the books I recommend are mostly compliant but if you see ingredients or recipes that don’t apply either skip them or make a few tweaks.  Once you learn a few switches then most recipe books are fab.

Key Switches:

Oils:  Use Coconut / Butter for sauteing, use light olive oil for roasting. Avoid vegetable oils.

Carbs: Use cauliflower mash, courgetti spaghettti, shirataki noodles, salad, spinach, celeriac chips, butternut squash (also good with cauli mash), grilled aubergines in place of pasta in lasagnes etc… The pancake recipe in place of pizza bases or wraps.

Dairy:  Use Kara coconut milk in place of milk, use Total 0% Greek Yogurt in place of cream / creme fraiche (better as live cultures), use coconut milk in place of cream or milk also.  Skip floury sauces, try a grating of strong cheese (as you need less) instead….

Fruits: As a rule go for lower sugar fruits like berries, for day to day, but things like baked fruit desserts are brill – just skip the added sugar.

Sugar & Sweeteners: Avoid sugar and also all artificial sweeteners.  Agave is OK (still not great and to be used in moderation) and coconut sugar is actually really good.  Stevia is great.  Most times the sugar isn’t needed at all so just skip it.  Or add fruits in certain cases, you can also make a paste from dates and water.

Flour: Usually skip the flour altogether or skip the flour heavy recipes.  Spelt flour is a good wheat / gluten free alternative, but still high carbs / starch.  Coconut flour is great.  Cornflour good for thickening, as is arrowroot and some seaweeds.   Ground nuts can be used in many cases, although again, all these things are treats – lots of cookies made with almond flour and agave are still cookies and not giving the quality of nutrition that a protein / veg based meal!
